  Wonderfully tranquil masjid tucked away in a narrow street off one of the main arteries of the old madina. Part of the building has collapsed and is in need of renovation but the remainder continues to function as a regular communal prayer hall with traditional niche in the wall. A historic building with octagonal brick minaret and arched wooden doors conceals a beautiful interior with Maghrebi arches and it awaits the intrepid explorer of this timeless landscape. The Zawiyah is an inconspicuous,atmospheric but ultimately quiet sanctuary undisturbed by the hustle of the madina and its many visitors and inhabitants. It is well worth seeing if only to be reabsorbed back into a timeless and ever-present moment.
